Wooden stool and Hide tanning: a 5-day course

In June, Green Ash Chairs is teaming up with Peter Ananin, a Scottish traditional hide tanner, for an exciting new course combining wood, leather and woven fibres at Broughtonknowe Wood, near Biggar.
You will be learning 3 key traditional skills using 3 natural materials; buckskin hide tanning from Scottish red deer, green woodworking using locally sourced wood, and weaving with seagrass, found around the UK coastline.
At the end of the course you will take home with you your own wooden stool and beautifully soft buckskin leather. No prior experience is necessary.
There are places for six people. Cost: £500 per person, including all materials, lunches, tea and coffee. Camping is possible on-site, or if you prefer you can sleep in Green Ash Chairs’ giant yurt… There are also B&B’s in Biggar.
