This is a 5-day course, from 9.00 to 6.00 each day.
Starting with a green log, you will learn all the steps to make your own lath-back chair. Cleaving the log, shaping each of the parts with the drawknife, steam-bending, assembly and finishing the frame and finally, weaving the seat with sea-grass or cord. If all goes well you will take your chair home with you at the end of the course!
Making a lath-back chair is slightly more complex than a spindle-back. If you have not made a chair before you are advised to make a spindle-back chair first. You can decide which you want to make at the start of the course.
