Making a Lath-back Chair

Tuesday, July 11, 2017 - 09:00 to Saturday, July 15, 2017 - 18:00

This is a 5-day course, from 9.00 to 5.00 each day.
Starting with a green log, you will learn all the steps to make your own lath-back chair. Cleaving the log, shaping each of the parts with the draw-knife, steam-bending, assembly and finishing the frame and finally, weaving the seat with sea-grass or cord. If all goes well you will take your chair home with you at the end of the course!

Making a lath-back chair is slightly more complex than a spindle-back. If you have not made a chair before you are advised to make a spindle-back chair first. You can decide which you want to make at the start of the course.

Course fees

Concessions (students, unwaged and disability) £325.
